Hi-Temp Silicone is a red 1-part, non-slumping temperature resistant silicone adhesive sealant designed for sealing and bonding applications with continuous exposure to temperature ranges of -85°F to 500°F and intermittent exposure up to 600F. It cures to a durable silicone rubber and adheres to substrates such as glass, wood, porcelain, ceramics, painted surfaces, and a variety of plastics, metals, and rubbers. Hi- Temp Silicone properties make it suitable for sealing stove and furnace vent pipes, sealing and encapsulating heating elements in appliances, moving oven belts, industrial ovens, bag filters on smoke stacks, and many other critical bonding, gasketing, and sealing where parts must perform at high temperatures. NSF 51 Certified, making it the superior choice for hi-temperature applications in and around food processing and storage. Hi-Temp Silicones properties make it suitable for a wide array of applications where parts must perform at high temperatures. Being a silicone-based product this caulk flows smoothly into place. It is easily worked after application, with the caveat that the tooling be done within 5 minutes. I would recommend it for gaps, no more than 3/8" or less. I would also recommend wearing disposable gloves for two reasons. Number one is, the orange color is very messy and number two is that many people get skin irritations from contact with this type of product. After wiping the excess from my spatula and hands, GoJo hand cleaner removed the rest.

I used this to seal up some open joints on my smoker, and to make some gaskets around the doors. It applies fairly easily, though it is dense and requires you to really squeeze hard on your caulk gun's trigger. It adhered nicely to painted metal surfaces, and dried in a couple hours. So far it has done an excellent job sealing the cracks, and I see much less smoke coming out from where it shouldn't. It's only gotten up to 400-500 degrees F, but it shows no sign of breaking down from the heat.

SUMMARY: MUCH BETTER FOR MY SPECIAL APPLICATION THAN OTHER PRODUCTS.BACKGROUND: Several years ago, we converted our wood-burning fire place to vent-free gas logs. At that time, I closed the flue damper and used fire-block caulk to seal the seams. The fire block cured hard and over time became brittle and fell out of the seams. I had hoped to find a flexible sealant for high temperature and when I saw the Everkem caulk it looked like the perfect solution.The caulk comes in a standard tube for use with a caulk gun. It is applied like standard caulk, but does have a bright red color. I used a wire brush to clean the surfaces to be sealed and applied a heavy bead. I then used my finger to press the caulk into the surfaces. The caulk appeared to stick to the brushed cast iron and fire brick quite well. There is a strong acetic acid odor as the caulk out-gasses and cures, but once cured there is not apparent odor.I installed a plate steel heat deflector above the logs to push the heat out of the fireplace into the living room. Through several years of use I have never seen temperatures above 475 degrees. The caulk is rated to 500 degrees F and short-term exposure to 600 degrees F. I don’t expect the areas with caulk to experience those temperatures.SUMMARY: I think this caulk will be the perfect solution to sealing the air leaks in the fireplace.PROS: Adheres well to cast iron, fire brick, and mortar.CONS: Strong odor while curing.

Works excellent on my RV around the water heater and furnace area. I used this hi-temp silicone by Everkem to waterproof and seal all the gaps in the furnace's flashing, duct work, plenum, vent pipe and air intake. This not only keeps the furnace energy efficient it helps prevent CO leaks. I then used it around the access panel to the water heater and found a small leak around a gasket. I applied the sealant to the leak area around the rubber gasket and it worked like a charm to seal the leak. I sleep well at night know this sealant is effective up to 500 degrees of continuous exposure. The convenient re-sealable cap means I can keep this product on the RV at all times and know it will work!

This one product covers a lot of uses. First - this is a high temperature silicone rated to 500 degrees F and allows intermittent exposure to 600 degrees F. It is not a refractory cement so you probably don't want to plan on using this to seal the vent on the back of your wood stove. I used this Hi Temp Silicone caulk to seal some insulating panels placed behind a direct vent fireplace I am installing. Could have gotten away with regular silicone but this gave me a chance to give this a shot and gives me a little peace of mind. The tube comes with its own cap to seal it up when you are done using it. Great product - does what it is supposed to do. The product is also NSF listed so should be safe for use around foods if used correctly. I could also find uses for this as a high temperature adhesive as well as a caulk. The product is colored red to indicate its applicability to high temperatures. Completly different application but sometimes I use silicone caulks in molds to form rounded edges on poured concrete. In this case having a silicone color that sharply contrasts with my mold material is important, as I dont want any stray silicone in my molds. Yep I would choose this product again.

Great product! I received this Hi-Temp Red Silicone Caulk a couple of days ago. I put it to use right away as I am installing a new wood stove stack pipe. I needed a Hi-Temp Caulk for the wood stove pipes because they can get pretty hot but only for short period of times. I needed to seal the pipes to stop smoke from leaking out between the pipes and this product worked perfectly, no more smoke seeping out. This Hi-Temp Caulk also sealed the pipes together like glue. So, if by any chance the stack pipe gets hit it won't loosen up and there will also be no seepage of smoke. I like the idea of a screw on cap. No more sticking a nail in it so it won't harden up. This Hi-Temp Red Silicone Caulk works on many types of material especially materials that with stand heat. I know I will be putting this Hi-Temp Caulk to use and especially on things that have heat involved.
