    GORHAM STERLING TRAY      1907 - ATHENIC PATTERN - 211 OUNCES
    A monumental, hand crafted c1907 Gorham sterling silver tray for serving afternoon tea, in
    the highly sought after Athenic pattern.
    Introduced in 1901 to complement the Martele line.
    Athenic silver was crafted in a range of styles from Art Nouveau to Academic,
    often integrating, ivory, glass and copper in the designs.
    The tray was awarded to the winner of the Eastern Yacht Club's Vice Commodore Cup in 1907.

    Classic rectangular form with gently curved corner.
    Corners with repousse-chased leaf and floral sprays in the Art Nouveau manner,
    interrupted by leaf and flower framed shaped oval medallion along the sides.
    Along the interior edge conforming hand engraved floral designs.
    The handles retain the original hand carved leaf and scroll inserts.

    Hallmarked as shown, including letters EVH - the date coding also used
